Registering for the waitlist is just like registering for a class. When scheduling, choose ‘Yes, Add me to the Waitlist’. You will be notified up to 12 hours before the class if you have been moved from the waitlist and added to a class. If your plans change, please remove yourself from the waitlist.

  • All group classes require a 12 hour cancellation notice, so if you're added to a class from the waitlist at the last minute, be aware that the 12–hour cancellation policy still applies.

Weather Cancellations

Stand Up Paddling is a weather related activity and your safety and comfort are our number one priority. Weather forecasts in Chicago are unreliable, so come prepared to paddle! We do our best to determine weather suitability and safety in advance, but ultimately, weather can be a game-time decision made at the start of the lesson or class. If at the start of a lesson or class there are signs of inclement weather, we will cancel and your visit will be credited to your account so that you can come again anytime. We do not issue weather refunds.

Are life jackets required?

Yes, Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) are required — and we provide PFDs with all classes and lessons! PFDs are intended to keep people safe. If you take off your PFD, we will kindly ask you to put it back on. If you remove it a second time, we will pull you off the water (no refunds). Please respect our policy so that we can make sure everyone has a safe experience.

What should I wear?

Comfortable, water-wicking clothing, or bathing suit, board shorts. Sun protection, hat.

Special note about sunglasses - sunglasses sink! We recommended either not wearing sunglasses, wearing cheap sunglasses, or bringing a lanyard or strap to keep them on.

Do not take anything out on the water with you that you are not willing to lose!

What should I bring?

We generally suggest to bring things like water, a towel, and a change of dry clothes.

Do you have storage lockers?

Yes, when you check in, we will store all of your personal belongings for you while you are on the water.

Do i need to take a lesson?

Lessons are not required but are highly recommended.

Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes, you must be able to swim in order to paddle with us.

Can two or more people share a board or be on a board at the same time?

No. Our policy is one person, one board, one hour.

Is there a weight limit?

The manufacturer's weight limit on the boards is 225 lbs.

Do you have an age limit?

Stand up paddlers should be at least 8 years old! We depend on the parents to accurately report their child’s swimming ability and experience. Additionally, we reserve the right to make decisions regarding weather suitability and safety for children. We do not allow kids 12 years old and under to paddle when winds are 10+ mph.

Can I put a child on my board?

No, we do not allow board sharing. For safety reasons, children younger than 8 may not ride on the front of a board. Children 8+ can have their own board.
